General Information
Barbara will be teaching enameling and jewelry making classes in a space above Vanguard Gallery and Steve Wilson Stained Glass on Laurel Street in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
The first classes, in enameling, will be held during the fall of 2012. Additional classes in jewelry and metalworking are planned for later in 2012 and 2013.
All instructional classes include hands-on working time so students can become proficient with the techniques learned. Students are encouraged to make pieces that express their individual ideas and visions while gaining solid skills in enameling and metalworking techniques. Classes are limited in size based on space, process and equipment needs while focusing on the need for individual attention each student needs while working.
Working Space and Tools Provided for Students
The working space is intended to be a place where students can learn, practice and excel in their enameling, jewelry making and metalworking skills. It is an open area with room to spread out and the necessary tools for learning and working.
Individual student work benches measure 2' x 3'' and include a bench light, catch tray, bench pin and stool. There is also a large shared table for demonstrations and student use, three kilns and a sink area.
Kilns, enamel supplies, kiln furniture, metalworking tools and all other hand tools required for classes being taught are provided. Other necessary tools for specialty techniques will be available for student use and/or purchase.
